intraLATA definition - telecom
Referring to a local long distance call within the boundaries of a Local Access and Transport Area (LATA). In the United States, LATA boundaries were defined in the Modified Final Judgement (MFJ) that broke up the AT&T Bell System on January 1, 1984.The Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOCs) and their component Bell Operating Companies (BOCs) initially were prevented from offering interLATA toll services, but they and other local exchange carriers (LECs) had the exclusive right to offer local exchange service and intraLATA toll service.
