IETF definition - telecom
The group of the Internet Society (ISOC) that identifies, prioritizes, and addresses short-term Internet issues and problems, including protocols, architecture, and operations. The IETF publishes proposed Internet standards in the form of Requests for Comment (RFCs). Once the final draft of a standard is prepared, it is submitted to the Internet Engineering Steering Group (IESG) for approval. The IETF operates under the supervision of the Internet Architecture Board (IAB). See also architecture, IESC, IAB, Internet, ISOC, protocol, RFC, and standard.
