headend definition - telecom
The point of signal origin and centralized communications control in a CATV network or a traditional Dataphone Digital Service (DDS) network.The headend is the common point of control and connection in a point-to-multipoint network configured in a physical star. See also CATV, DDS, point-tomultipoint, and star topology.
