hardphone definition - telecom
A conventional telephone set, which is a single function terminal, hardwired to support voice communications. A hardphone is in sharp contrast to a softphone, which is a software-based telephone comprising a desktop, laptop, or tablet computer equipped with a microphone, a speaker, and software that allows it to emulate a hardphone. See also softphone.
