facilities bypass definition - telecom
Referring to the technologies that a service provider or user organization uses to bypass the local loop facilities of the incumbent local exchange carrier (ILEC) in order to gain access to an interexchange carrier (IXC) or Internet service provider (ISP). Facilities bypass generally involves wireless technologies. See also ILEC, ISP, and IXC.
