E-TDMA definition - telecom
A multiplexing technique developed by Hughes Network Systems as an improvement over TDMA, which is employed in many digital cellular networks. E-TDMA employs digital speech interpolation (DSI) compression, also known as voice activity detection (VAD), and half-rate vocoders (voice coders) operating at 4.8 kbps to enhance bandwidth utilization.
