DLCI definition - telecom
  1. In ISDN, A two-octet address field in a LAPD frame, the DLCI is used for addressing at the Data Link Layer, which is Layer 2 of the OSI Reference Model. The first octet is the service access point identifier (SAPI), which identifies the destination service access point, each of which can support multiple terminal devices. The second octet is the terminal endpoint identifier (TEI), which is the address of the destination terminal device. See also Data Link Layer, ISDN, LAPD, and OSI Reference Model.
  2. In frame relay, 10 bits in a LAPF frame that identify the data link, the virtual circuit (VC). A switch may associate a DLCI with a set of service parameters, which include frame size, Committed Information Rate (CIR), Committed Burst Size (B c ), Excess Burst Size (B e ), and Committed Rate Measurement Interval (T c ).
