distribution frame definition - telecom
A structure in the form of a frame of metal uprights and cross pieces with termination points on each side into which conductors can be mechanically connected and semi-permanent cross-connections can be made.The term generally is applied to distribution frames for twisted pair cables, with jumpers used to connect the pairs on each side of the frame. See also frame, intermediate distribution frame (IDF), main distribution frame (MDF), and patch panel.
