DBS definition - telecom
A geosynchronous earth-orbiting (GEO) satellite system that broadcasts signals directly to subscribers' premises, thereby bypassing traditional terrestrial broadcast television stations and CATV providers. DBS systems that offer two-way Internet services also receive signals directly from subscriber's premises, thereby bypassing traditional wireline Internet service providers (ISPs).
