A fully addressed and self-contained packet that can be switched through a packet-switched network and delivered to the intended target station independent of any other packets.That is, a datagram contains enough information to enable the network routers to deliver it to the correct destination.A datagram is a standalone, totally independent packet that is not considered by the routing protocol to be part of a datastream.
