CTS definition - telecom
  1. A message sent to a device clearing it for access to a wireless network. Demand Aassigned Multiple Access (DAMA), for example, is a protocol that assigns available channel capacity to an Earth station from a pool of bandwidth, on demand and as available.The Earth station transmits request to send (RTS) messages to the satellite until it responds with a clear to send (CTS), at which time the message transmission ensues.   2. A conductor (pin) used on serial data interfaces, as between a terminal and modem, to indicate one device is ready to accept data from the other. See also conductor, modem, serial communication, and terminal.
