Also known as switched circuit network (CSN). A network based on circuit switching, rather than packet switching. The traditional public switched telephone network (PSTN) is a circuit-switched network, although it rapidly is transitioning to packet switching based on the Internet Protocol (IP), the fundamental protocol of the Internet.
