CIC definition - telecom
In the United States, a four-digit code (XXXX) that identifies the interexchange carrier (IXC) the subscriber has pre-selected for interstate long distance calling purposes. The CIC allows the originating local exchange carrier (LEC) to identify and hand off the call to the correct interstate IXC.The CIC is part of the Carrier Access Code (CAC) that subscribers can use to dial around pre-subscribed carriers.
