  1. The frequency of an unmodulated carrier wave.
  2. A frequency capable of being modulated by an information-bearing signal of another frequency or frequencies.The carrier frequency is referred to as the center frequency in Frequency Modulation (FM), as the carrier frequency is used as a centerpoint, or reference point, with higher and lower frequency signals used to represent 1 bits and 0 bits.
