calling name delivery definition - telecom
Also known as caller name. A CLASS service of the public switched telephone network (PSTN). The service delivers the name of the calling party, as listed in the directory, number to the called line, where it can appear on a telephone set equipped with a display or on a peripheral display unit. Because this feature works in conjunction with CLID, it automatically is blocked if CLID is blocked. See also calling name and number blocking and CLID.
