anycast address

anycast address definition - telecom
In Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), an address that is assigned to multiple interfaces, typically on multiple nodes. A packet with an anycast address is delivered to the closest interface with that address, as determined by the routing by the routing protocols measure of distance.
