A variation on the quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) signal modulation scheme. 128-QAM yields 128 possible signal combinations, with each symbol representing seven bits (2 7 = 128). The yield of this complex modulation scheme is that the transmission rate is seven times the signaling rate.
