SYSTIMAX - Computer Definition
A "Structured Connectivity System" developed by Bell Labs, the R&D arm of Lucent. SYSTIMAX is a set of products, disciplines and technologies that are used to create open architecture networking systems. Based on copper, fiber and wireless connectivity solutions as well as software developed at Lucent, the goal is to provide a communication system with maximum availability, flexibility and scalability. It includes standardized media and layout for backbone and horizontal cabling, standard connection interfaces for physical connection of equipment and consistent and uniform design which follows a system plan built upon specific design principles.
