A period of several days over which the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) fell by 12.82 percent, which was a strong percentage decline for the relatively low level of the DJIA. From its peak in September to the end of 1929, the DJIA fell by about 34 percent. Black Thursday, Oct. 25, 1929, was one of the days the DJIA fell sharply during this period.
