Pact Finance Definition
The agreement that forms the basis for the euro and
outlines the monetary policies followed by the European Central Bank (ECB) in
managing interest rates for the European Union (EU). The pact requires EU
nations to keep deficits below three percent of gross domestic product and to
work to balance them. The pact also requires the ECB to give priority to
keeping inflation under control over encouraging growth and employment.
