Snow, John W. Finance Definition

As of this printing, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, appointed by President George W. Bush and sworn into office on February 3, 2003. Before his appointment, he was chairman and chief executive officer of transportation company CSX Corporation. His previous governmental experience includes several senior management positions at the Department of Transportation, including the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

He also was chairman of the Business Roundtable, a business policy group comprising 250 chief executive officers of the nation’s largest companies. He graduated from the University of Toledo in 1962. He received a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Virginia and he received a law degree from George Washington University in 1967. He replaced Bush’s first Treasury secretary, Paul O’Neill, who resigned.
