Shabelle

(shā-bĕlˈē, shə-) or She·be·le (shē-bāˈlē, shə-)

A river, about 1,609 km (1,000 mi) long, of northeast Africa rising in central Ethiopia and flowing southeast into Somalia then southwest in a course parallel to the Indian Ocean coastline. It disappears in a swampland in southern Somalia.
