investment buyer (QIB) Finance Definition
An investor who is judged to be
sophisticated and is able to purchase securities that are not offered to the
public under U.S. Regulation 144A. QIBs also include insurance companies,
licensed small business investment companies, employee benefit plans, business
trusts, most corporations, registered investment advisors and individuals who
are worth at least $5 million.
