I'm Irish and my grandfather since I was little always called me a "lil Peckerwood" for the reason of the Irish Heritage.

I live in the mountains of North Carolina, and have this term used for years, A Peckerwood could be anyone who knocks on your door that you take a fast dislike to, more that likely a pushy salesman. Being poor or white had nothing to do with it.
