PCMCIA - Computer Definition
An international standards body and trade association of manufacturers and vendors that sets standards for interoperable add-in integrated circuit cards known as PCMCIA cards or, more commonly, PC cards. See also PC card.
(Personal Computer Memory Card International Association, San Jose, CA) An international standards body and trade association that was founded in 1989 to establish a standard for connecting peripherals to portable computers. PCMCIA created the PC Card, CardBus and ExpressCard standards. In 2010, PCMCIA's assets were acquired by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF). See PC Card.
