noun
- a sling for a log, barrel, etc., made by passing a doubled rope around the object and pulling the rope ends through the loop
- a device for raising or lowering a cylindrical object, consisting of a doubled rope, the middle of which is secured at a given height and the ends passed around the object so that it will move up and down as the ends are hauled in or payed out
