North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Finance Definition
A free-trade zone created by the
governments of the United States, Canada, and Mexico to encourage trade among
themselves. By eliminating barriers to trade in goods and services in the North
American region, NAFTA also provides a dispute-resolution process for its
members to solve trade issues before they get out of hand. The protection and
enforcement of intellectual property rights also is a goal of the treaty.
