National Futures Association (NFA) Finance Definition
A self-regulated industry organization for the futures and options markets. The NFA’s purpose is to enforce ethical standards, protect customers, screen professionals for membership, and monitor members for compliance rules. The association also provides a venue to arbitrate disputes over futures deals. It also is responsible for the registration and supervision of commodity pool operators and commodity trading advisors. The NFA began operations in October 1982.
