noun- An artery with origin in the vertebral artery, with distribution to the spinal cord and the pia mater, and with anastomoses to the branches of the intercostal and lumbar arteries; anterior spinal artery.
- An artery with origin in the vertebral artery, with distribution to the medulla, spinal cord, and pia mater; and with anastomoses to the spinal branches of the intercostal arteries; posterior spinal artery.
