An inconstant muscle with origin from the twelfth thoracic and the first lumbar vertebrae and the disk between them, with insertion into the iliopubic eminence, with nerve supply from the lumbar plexus, and whose action assists in the flexion of the lumbar spine. Also called psoas minor.
