Pro·pi·on·i·bac·te·ri·um (prōˌpē-ŏnˌə-băk-tîrˈē-əm)
noun A genus of saphrophytic nonmotile gram-positive bacteria, usually anaerobic, that occur in dairy products, on the skin, and in the intestinal tract; certain species may be pathogenic.
