Either of two branches of the tibial nerve that innervate the foot, with the smaller lateral one supplying the deep muscles of the foot and the lateral skin of the sole and fourth and fifth toes, and the larger medial one supplying muscles on the medial aspect of the foot and the skin of the first four toes and the medial two-thirds of the sole.
