peroneal artery
noun An artery with its origin in the posterior tibial artery, with distribution to the soleus muscle, the long flexor muscle of the big toe, the muscles of the fibula, the inferior tibiofibular articulation, and the ankle joint; and with anastomoses to the lateral malleolar, lateral tarsal, and lateral plantar arteries, and to the dorsal artery of the foot. Also called fibular artery.
