ped·i·cle (pĕdˈĭ-kəl)

noun
  1. A constricted portion or stalk.
  2. A slender stalk by which the base of a nonsessile tumor is attached to normal tissue. Also called peduncle.
  3. A stalk through which a skin flap receives its blood supply until the skin flap is transferred to its intended site of attachment.
