mov·a·ble joint (mo͞oˈvə-bəl)

noun
  1. A joint in which the opposing bony surfaces are covered with a layer of hyaline cartilage or fibrocartilage and in which some degree of free movement is possible. Also called diarthrodial joint, diarthrosis, synarthrosis, synovial joint.
  2. A joint, either a synchondrosis or a symphysis, in which the apposed bony surfaces are united by cartilage. Also called amphiarthrosis, cartilaginous joint, synarthrodial joint, synarthrosis.
