men·in·gism (mĕnˈĭn-jĭzˌəm, mə-nĭnˈ-) or men·in·gis·mus (mĕnˌĭn-jĭzˈməs, mə-nĭnˌ-)
noun A condition of meningeal irritation in which symptoms mimic those of meningitis but in which no inflammation is present, often occurring during febrile illnesses in children.
