mRNA (ĕmˌär-ĕn-āˈ)
noun RNA, synthesized from a DNA template during transcription, that mediates the transfer of genetic information from the cell nucleus to ribosomes in the cytoplasm, where it serves as a template for protein synthesis. Also called messenger RNA.
