noun
  1. Any of four or five pairs of arteries with origin in the abdominal aorta, with distribution to the lumbar vertebrae, muscles of the back, and the abdominal wall, and with anastomoses to the intercostal, subcostal, superior and inferior epigastric, deep circumflex iliac, and iliolumbar arteries.
  2. An artery with origin in the median sacral artery, with distribution to the sacrum and iliac muscle, and with anastomosis to the iliac artery; lowest lumbar artery.
