Koch's postulates
plural noun The series of conditions that must be met in order to establish a microorganism as the causative agent of a disease, namely: it must be present in all cases of the disease; inoculations of its pure cultures must produce the disease in susceptible animals; and from these it must again be isolated and propagated in pure cultures.
