i·so·cor·tex (īˌsō-kôrˈtĕksˌ)
noun The larger part of the cerebral cortex, that is distinguished from the allocortex by having a larger number of nerve cells arranged in six layers. Also called homotypic cortex, neocortex, neopallium.
