ho·mo·gen·tis·ic acid (hōˌmō-jĕn-tĭzˈĭk)
noun An intermediate of the metabolic breakdown of tyrosine and phenylalanine; it occurs in the urine in cases of alkaptonuria. Also called alkapton.
