ho·mo·cys·te·ine (hōˌmə-sĭsˈtə-ēnˌ, -ĭn, -tē-)
noun An amino acid that is a homologue of cysteine, is produced by the demethylation of methionine, and forms a complex with serine that metabolizes to produce cysteine and homoserine.
