Hoff·mann's sign (hôfˈmənz)

noun
  1. Severe pain in the trigeminal nerve in response to mild mechanical stimulation, characteristic of latent tetany.
  2. Flexion of the terminal phalanx of the thumb and of the second and third phalanges of the other fingers when one of the middle fingertips is flicked. Also called digital reflex, Hoffmann's reflex.
