He·roph·i·lus (hə-rŏfˈə-ləs) fl. c. 300 BC.
Greek anatomist and surgeon. A pioneer of dissection, he compared the human anatomy to that of other animals and gave detailed descriptions of the brain, liver, spleen, and sexual organs.
