he·mol·y·sis (hĭ-mŏlˈĭ-sĭs, hēˌmə-līˈsĭs) or he·ma·tol·y·sis (hēˌmə-tŏlˈĭ-sĭs)
noun The destruction or dissolution of red blood cells, with release of hemoglobin. Also called erythrocytolysis, erythrolysis.
