Eijk·man (īkˈmänˌ, ākˈ-), Christiaan 1858-1930.

Dutch hygienist and pathologist. He shared a 1929 Nobel Prize for his discovery of the nutrient, later called vitamin B1 or thiamine, that relieves beriberi.
