Di·pet·a·lo·ne·ma (dī-pĕtˌl-ō-nēˈmə)
noun A large genus of filarial worms that are transmitted by a species of gnats to humans and other vertebrates, producing microfilariae in the blood or tissue fluids, and live as adults in deep connective tissue, membranes, or visceral surfaces.
