di·eth·yl ether (dī-ĕthˈəl)
noun A pungent, volatile, highly flammable liquid derived from the distillation of ethyl alcohol with sulfuric acid and widely used as an inhalation anesthetic. Also called ethyl ether, ethyl oxide, sulfuric ether.
