con·nec·tive tissue (kə-nĕkˈtĭv)
noun The supporting or framework tissue of the body, arising chiefly from the embryonic mesoderm and including collagenous, elastic and reticular fibers, adipose tissue, cartilage, and bone. Also called interstitial tissue.
