ci·gua·tox·in (sēˌgwə-tŏkˈsĭn)
noun A potent neurotoxin that is secreted by various dinoflagellates, especially Gambierdiscus toxicus, and can accumulate in the flesh of tropical reef fish, causing ciguatera poisoning if they are eaten.
